SIXTH GRADE
Can identify the parts of a book; bibliography and footnotes
Can locate and use periodicals, newspapers, and magazines
Can use an almanac to locate statistical information
Can use cross references to locate additional information on a topic
Can use the yellow pages in a telephone directory to locate an address for a specific service
Can use an appropriate bibliographic format to cite an information source
Can demonstrate operation of available audio-visual equipment
Can operate a computer to run education software
Can use the electronic catalog, CD-ROM databases, interlibrary loan and personal interview to prepare a research paper

SEVENTH GRADE
Can locate geographical information in atlas, geographical dictionaries, encyclopedia, etc.
Can use a news digest or newspaper index to locate information
Can recognize propaganda techniques
Can recognize words and phrases that occur in daily life situations and interpret their literal meanings
Can identify key words in a statement
Can use biographical dictionaries
